A note about Galvanised Finishes: Galvanised finishes are extremely robust and used to prevent rusting in steel and iron. Galvanising is often used in industrial or agricultural settings. The finish is achieved by dripping the finished fitting into hot molten zinc. The process inevitably leaves runs and rough areas of zinc, these are part and parcel of the finish and do not mean that the fitting is faulty or sub-standard. When new the finish is quite a bright silver which over time softens to a dull matt grey similar to the surface of old aluminium saucepans.
