This collage has been made specially for Tinsmith’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition, Paper Cut Pigeons & Brass Boots. Marion specialises in paper mediums, creating densely textured papers which she then uses in her intricate and decorative collages. Framed in a wooden frame individually decorated by Marion, with perspex glazing.
This collage has been designed using inspirations from ancient crafts and British folklore, two main themes behind the exhibition they will feature in. Marion has decorated the frames using framing tape, cut in ornate patterns which reflect the folk subjects within.

Marion Elliot is a designer and printmaker who works mainly in paper mediums. Marion uses printmaking techniques to create densely textured papers which she then uses in her detailed collage work.
Marion has a great love of folk and vernacular art, taking inspiration from motifs such as typography, tattoos, fairgrounds, typography, hand painted signs, shop fronts, religious icons and workers guilds banners.
Her career began in London working as a writer, stylist art director for clients such as F & W Media, Hachette, David & Charles, Hallmark, IPC and national magazines. Marion has produced 25 books on design related subjects including paper engineering and textiles and her work has been exhibited in the UK, USA and Japan.
Marion currently works as a freelance illustrator and teaches on the BA Illustration course at Hereford College of Arts.
