RAMP stands for Roop and Al Make Pots. A long-term creative partnership between Alice Hartford and Roop Johnstone who met whilst studying at Edinburgh School of Art in the late 90’s. They now work from their studio space in Devon and produce highly decorated earthenware and porcelain pots. Alice takes inspiration from the natural world and applies the shapes and motifs to the pots using coloured slip onto wet clay to create fluidity and movement within her designs. She also uses stencilling and sgraffito techniques and treats each pot as a blank canvas so no two pieces are identical. Roop focuses on the throwing and finds the tactile qualities of clay to be intriguing, wanting his pots to be interacted with and used everyday.
Looking after your RAMP ceramics is easy, your pots will last longer if hand washed. Pot & Plastic marble ware should be hand washed and the lids should be wiped clean with a soft, damp cloth to avoid soaking the cork. Microwave use is not advised for any RAMP pieces.
